Mangalore, May 6: Come monsoon and flooding of low lying areas poses a threat of life and property. With increase in construction activities and unplanned structures blocking water passages, Inundation has become an issue of concern.

Suffering from the same problem, the Baikampady, Chitrapura, Kulai, Hosabettu Gramagala Bailare Nivasigala Hitarakshana Vedike has in its press release requested the district administration to take necessary action against the inundation in low-lying areas during the monsoons.

The reclaiming of land by the private property developers during the monsoons, will pose a threat to the low-lying areas, as rain water will create floods in these areas, instead of freely flowing into the sea.

The residents therefore in their memorandum to the deputy commissioner, have demanded to take required action before the monsoons start.
