Bhatkal/Kundapur, Jan 2:
A day after four persons of a family from Gangolli were killed in an accident near Channarayapatna, two more persons from the same place were killed in a head-on collision between a bike and a tipper lorry near Belke National Highway 66 in Bhatkal.

The accident occurred at around 4:30 pm on Thursday January 2.

The deceased were identified as Raghavendra (35), son of Srinivas Dasaiah, and Subramanya (25), son of the late Rama. Both were residents of Bavikatte near Gangolli port.

They were heading towards Gangolli from Gokarna when a lorry approaching from the opposite direction rammed into them.

Sources said that the bodies lay on the road for nearly half an hour before they were taken to Bhatkal government hospital for post-mortem with the help of the locals.

Both Raghavendra and Subramanya were bachelors, and were working at Gangolli port. On Thursday, on account of holiday, they had been to Bhatkal to take part in a puja at a temple in Sodigadde, sources said.

A case has been registered in Bhatkal police station.

I fully agree with your comments and I hope all these bikers will take your advice as more and more lives can be saved. I have heard many many bikers who were killed not due to their fault. May their souls rest in eternal peace and give all the comfort to the bereaved families.

Dear all two wheeler riders, a thought came to my mind to give a piece of advice and thus penning these few lines. Take extreme care when you are on your two wheeler on the road. Vehicles pass-by. Many many times, you may feel, it is your right where you are riding and righty so. But there is a four wheeler coming from the opposite direction overtaking the other vehicle. It is you who has to save your life as you are on a two wheeler. I have seen many vehicles, come on the opposite direction to overtake. They think that there is no threat to their life and if you want, you give way to them eventhough it is your right. My advice to you all is, after the accident takes place, there is no use of weeping. Therefore you all have to be alert and take precaution and avoid accidents and save your life. Because, life is very precious. In some cases, some bikers are very rash and they overtake bigger vehicles. Many a times, this leads to major accidents and they lose their lives. They themselves are responsible for such accidents. But they have to remember that they become the cause to give severe pain to their parents or family members. Accidents can be avoided, if we ourselves take precaution while riding the vehicles be alert (specially don't use the cell phone)and thus save your lives as well as others.
