Mangalore, May 7: Twenty one couples entered wedlock at the mass marriage ceremony organized annually by the St Vincent de Paul Society at Rosario Cathedral here on Sunday, May 07, 2006.

The nuptials was blessed by Mangalore Diocese Vicar General Fr Fred Pereira. Rector St Aloysius Institutions Fr Francis Serrao, Fr Marian Pinto concelebrated at the Eucharist.


The 32 mass marriage programme gathered a crowd of around 1,600 people. The wedding celebration which was held on the Rosario Campus was participated by Susheel Noronha, president of St Christopher Association, Mangalore.


The newly married couples were given gifts worth Rs 5,000 including the wedding saree, churidhar set, pant and shirt material and household articles and a fixed deposit of Rs 3,500.



President SVP Rudolf Tauro, vice president parish pastoral council Felix Albuquerque were also present on the dais.

The mass marriage programme which began in 1976 has facilitated the marriage of 446 couples.
