Sullia, May 8: Veteran leader of the co-operative movement and politician N Ramakrishna Rai (81) breathed his last on Saturday.

Rai was the founder president of the Sullia Taluk Bunts’ Association, founder president of Bunts District Association, vice-president of Sullia Co-operative Agriculture Bank, and president of Sullia Ramakrishna Credit Co-operative Society.

He has served in various posts including president of the Mangalore Ramakrishna Credit Co-operative Society, president of Sullia Block Congress, Municipal member and director of TAPCMS, Land Development Bank, SKADS Mangalore, SDAMS and CAMPCO.

He is survived by wife, a son and three daughters.
