Kasaragod, May 7: A woman and her two children, including a three-month old baby, were burnt to death under mysterious circumstances in their rented house at Madhur near here, police said on Sunday.

The charred bodies of 30-year old Sameera, her son Sabil (3) and Shakira (three months) were found by the local people on Sunday in their residence. However, Sameera's six-year old daughter Sahira miraculously escaped with severe burn injuries, police said.

Sameera, said to have converted to Islam after she got married to one Abdul Rahman, had shifted to Madhur recently from Mumbai, where she had been staying with her husband.

Abdul Rahman was reported to be in Mumbai when the tragedy took place, police said.

The bodies of the victims were sent to the Pariyaram medical college hospital near Kannur for post-morterm.
