Daijiworld News Network – Bajpe (VM)

Bajpe, May 8: Better late than never, the Catholics of Mangalore diocese have raised their voices against the atrocities meted on the community.

The massive protest which was held at Bajpe on Sunday is a warning bell that religious tolerance must be imbibed. A late reaction to the rampage of the grotto of mother Mary built at Katikambla in Doddupalke of Kompadav village, Bajpe, thousands gathered demanding for justice and stringent action against the miscreants.

Organised by the Catholic Sabha, the protest march began from Bajpe church and culminated at the Central Maidan where a public meet was held.

Balkunje parish priest Fr William Martis spoke on the occasion. Steven Quadros Permude and advocate Ivan D’Souza also condemned the rampage.

The grotto which was built seven years ago was destroyed by miscreants on April 23.
