Kundapur, May 8: A troll boat caught in raging waves was completely damaged at Kodi near here recently.  However, three fishermen who were in the boat had a miraculous escape.

The boat "Jalvikrant" belonged to one Upendra Kharvi (65) of Gangolli.  He, along with Trivikram Kharvi (52) and Sudhakar Kharvi (45 had gone fishing on Friday May 5.  They set out from Gangolli estuary and had reached Kodi when boat developed crack owing to raging waves.  Within a few minutes the base of the boat too got damaged.

Realizing the danger, all three of the jumped to the see and swam safely to the shore.  Since they were not in the deep sea, they managed to swim to the shore.  However, the boat sank with all the equipments, machine, nets etc.  The boat was pulled to the shore on Sunday May 7.

The total loss has been estimated at Rs 6 lac.  The ports and fisheries department officials as well as the police visited the place.
