Dubai: Gammath Kalavider to present 'Porlu Thuper' on Jan 17

Dubai, Jan 6: Gammath Kalavider UAE, an popular amateur Tulu drama troupe has been providing a common platform for drama artistes to show and contribute their talents in the field of Tulu drama from past several years.

After successful response to their previous dramas namely, Dinesh Attavar’s 'Ee... Porludaye..?' in 2012, J A Boloor’s 'Porlu Toovade' .. in 2013, Gammath Kalavider are here again with yet another Tulu comedy and social drama 'Porlu Thuper', written by well-known drama writer, director and artiste Nellu Permannur of Bale Telipaale fame.

The drama, directed by Vishwanath Shetty will be staged on January 17 at 6 pm at Sheikh Rashid Auditorium, Indian High School Dubai, to mark the third anniversary of Gammath Kalavider UAE.

In 2012, Gammath Kalavider extended their committed service to society by donating Rs 5 lac from the surplus collected during Tulu drama 'Porlu Toovade' to Spoorthi Dhama, a charitable organisation which is a dedicated organisation for uplifting less fortunate children and women of society.

Matha Lakshani Shanthidham, an old age home based in Bantwal taluk will be the beneficiary of this year’s show .

Vasu Shetty, chief convenor of Gammath Kalavider UAE, has requested all Tulu drama lovers, well-wishers and sponsors to support the upcoming Tulu drama and be a part of happiness of the helpless and elderly citizens of Matha Lakshani Shanthidham.
