Bantwal, May 8: Shankar Bhat (80) of Idkidu had passed away of old age on Sunday morning.  Hearing this news, his relatives, friends and well-wishers had come to his home and were helping the family members to arrange for funeral.  Meanwhile it was observed that Shankar's wife Meenakshamma (63) was not in the house.

Immediately the family members and others started searching for her in the neighbourhood and other places.  But she was not found.  Finally, one of the family members who had gone to the attic of the house to bring something found Meenakshamma hanging from the roof with the help of her sari.  He immediately passed the news and the people present there lowered her body.  But she had died by that time.

It is said that the couple were very attached to each other and the death of her husband might have frustrated Meenakshamma who accompanied him in death too just as she had stayed  with him during his life's journey.

A complaint has been filed in the Vittal police station in this regard.
