Karnataka's 'Sakala' e-governance scheme bags National Award
From Our Special Correspondent
Daijiworld Media Network - Bangalore
Bangalore, Jan 6: The much acclaimed 'Sakala,' e-governance scheme launched by the previous BJP regime and continued by the present Congress government in Karnataka headed by Siddaramaiah has bagged the national award under the category "outstanding performance in citizen centric service delivery" for the year 2013-14.
Sakala was launched for ensuring time-bound delivery of services for citizens.
The Union Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances, and Pensions has in a letter to Shalini Rajneesh, Secretary, DPAR and Mission Director – Sakala, informed that the State has been awarded silver under the category "outstanding performance in citizen centric service delivery" for national award on e-governance.
The award would be presented to the State during the 17th national conference on e-governance scheduled to be held at Kochi in Kerala on January 30 and 31.
Karnataka's Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister T B Jayachandra, who is monitoring the functioning of Sakala in the State, has congratuled the citizens for ensuring the success.
The minister has also warmly complimented Dr Shalini Rajneesh, all the officers and staff of Sakala mission. He has also thanked the staff of the 24x7 call centres manning the scheme.
Sakala was launched during the previous BJP government rule when S Suresh Kumar was the Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs.
Under the system, the penalty would be imposed on officials for delay in the delivery of services covered under the Sakala.
Teams from several Indian states and foreign government visited the State and studied the implementation of the e-governance project.
More than 250 services have been covered under the scheme, which has already caught nation-wide public awareness with several State Governments sending their team of officials to study its performance in Karnataka.

Tue, Jan 07 2014I am very happy to read this news. Whenever Daijiworld published news regarding Sakala , I had commented on the subject with positive. All we need to thank the present Revenue Dept of Karnataka state for continuing the said scheme of BJP rule.
This sakala scheme is a replica of Gujrat state scheme which was highly appreciated and even studied by international level called " Samay Sudini Seva" scheme which is adopted since 2008.There are so many awards recd by Guj Govt for the scheme from central govt.
There are so many loopholes in Annabhagya scheme . If the present govt think of Anthyodaya Anna yojana of NDA govt to be continued in the name Annabhaghya in Karnataka then the present form of Annabhaghya can be a success for Cong Govt.

Tue, Jan 07 2014While I appreciate the scheme, in reality you don't get your work done or the document you are looking for is delivered within 14 days time. This is my personal experience.

Tue, Jan 07 2014"Sakala" credit should go to Dr.Shalini R. not to the politician. There were so many schemes proposed by politicians/bureaucrats,but neither implemented or nor delivered to the intended. Hence, my congrats to the implementation and ution team.

Tue, Jan 07 2014Dinesh you have to do your homework. You have rightly said only Bjp can look beyond. That is why Reddy brothers with the blessing of Yeddi looted the mines as they were aware they will not rule Karnataka. A bunch of Goondas were not present in BJP. so whenever you write & comment something you right sensibley. Now only alternative to your Narendra Modi (Godra Butcher ) & Congi is the AAP.

Tue, Jan 07 2014Oh… Jossey... is a complete changed person ever since shifted his base again to Mapusa or just for a change??? But what Jossey said is cent percent correct because this is the one such scheme introduced by BJP Government and well maintained by Congiss too. Few of our beloved storm critics of BJP Government should learn something from great Jossey too at least just for the day
