Mangalore, May 9: Just before his departure from Mangalore airport, star cricketer Sachin Tendulkar, wife Anjali and other family members offered a string of rites at the Kukke Shri Subrahmanya temple at Subrahmanya in Sullia taluk here on Monday morning. Later they flew from the city at 3-00 pm.

Dogged by persistent bouts of physical complaints, Sachin has been laid off from active cricket for some time now. The present visit is to seek divine intervention to set right the afflictions, said the family sources. On Sunday, they had performed the 'Sarpa Samskara' while on Monday, the 'Ashlesha Bali' rite was performed seeking physical fitness.

On Sunday evening, except for Sachin, all other family members went on a round of nature watch at Bisile ghat area, in the company of the family of V S Nayak of 'Ashraya Sheshanag', who had organized the visit. Nayak had earlier arranged for the visits of the family of the late Raj Kapoor family, Juhi Chawla and others, who too had performed 'Sarpa Samskara' and other rites.

'Go daana' was performed and doles were given away to celibates. Around 10-00 am the Tendulkars left for Bajpe airport for onward departure at 3-00 pm.

Sensing the importance of the visit, Daijiworld's official photographer Dayanand Kukkaje had set up a photography and video coverage networking for the event, so that no action would be missed. Since the Monday's proceedings were not so much covered by the media, the least by the national media, pictures from his collection were hot favourites. All the major national newspools and newspapers widely benefited from his despatches. National TV channels also used the video clippings wired by him.
