Kolkata, May 9: Expressing confidence that Sourav Ganguly would be back in the national team, former cricketer G R Viswanath on Monday suggested that the left hander concentrate on first class matches to win back selectors' trust.

While conceding that it was difficult for Ganguly to return to the ODI team - which has done spectacularly in recent times - Viswanth said "However, I don't think it is the end of the story for him".

"He is still playing. He has not retired. Though a player of his class has nothing to prove, if he scores runs consistently, the selectors will definitely think about him," he said.

"I think he should play first class cricket and score runs," he said.

However, Viswanath refused to be drawn into any controversy on the matter.

"It is for the selectors to decide whether he should be in the team. I am not the selector. And thank God, I am not," he said.
