Mangalore, May 9: The Common Entrace Test (CET) for admission in the professional colleges in the state began in nine centres in the district (eight in the city and another in Puttur) on Tuesday morning.

A total of 4,152 aspirants are appearing for the test in the district. The deputry commissioner of the district has been designated by the government to supervise the peaceful conduct of the test. Prohibitory orders like Section no 144 have been promulgated within a radius of 200 metres of all centres by the district administration.

The designated centres in the city are at St Agnes, St Aloysius, Besant College, Canara College, Ganapati High School, Milagres PU COllege, Sharada Kendriya Vidyalaya and Women's College.
