Mangalore: Bejai Catholic Sabha to present Tulu comedy drama 'Nank Matherla Bodu'

Mangalore, Jan 9: The Bejai unit of Catholic Sabha will present Tulu comedy drama “Nank Matherla Bodu” on Sunday January 19 at Lourdes Central School. The drama is directed by renowned Ln Kishore D Shetty of Lakumi troupe.

A brief stage programme will be held at 6 pm, prior to the drama. Drama lovers and those who wish to contribute to charity are invited to be a part of it. The drama guarantees loads of fun and laughter.

The Bejai unit of the Catholic Sabha has been actively involved in parish activities from the past 15 years. It has been helping the poor by providing education aid and medical aid in a big way. It believes in bringing social, economic, and political awareness among the people to enable them to work with unity for overall development of society.

“Though many people come to us for help for educational or medical needs, we have a shortage of funds. So we decided to raise money to help the needy," say the members of the unit.

"Motivating the people to unite is the basic concept here. We expect a huge crowd across all religions, who love Tulu language and culture, to attend this show. The Bejai unit of the Catholic Sabha has 150 members who are actively participating in various programmes.

"During the event, we are honoring Ivan Mascarenhas, who is serving the Bejai parish and in particular the students belonging to Central school and children of Bejai parish. His service and dedication is appreciated by one and all”, they said.

Fr Victor Machado, parish priest of St Francis Xavier Church is the spiritual director, while Nirmal D’ Souza is the president of Bejai unit and is also holding the position of vice-president of episcopal city varado. The other office-bearers are Dionysius D’ Souza (Niyojit president), Sybil Pinto (vice-president), Shalet Pinto (secretary), Apoline Mendonsa (joint secretary), Steven D’ Cunha (treasurer), Leo D’ Souza (joint treasurer), Richard D’ Souza (political convener) Joyce D’Souza (Amcho Sandesh representative) and Oswald Rodrigues (government facility convener).

Augustine Rodrigues, vice-president, Bejai Church, and Joseph Nazareth, past president, episcopal city varado and treasurer of Catholic Sabha Mangalore Pradesh and Stanislaus B Vaz, past president (Bejai Unit), are the other core committee members.
Walter Stephen Mendes, managing director, Western Institute of Technology, Mangalore will be the chief guest. Frank Fernandes, managing director, Mosaco Shipping & Forwarding (LLC) Dubai, Nigel Pereira, president, Catholic Sabha Mangalore Pradesh and Augustine Rodrigues, vice-president, parish council (Bejai) will be the guests of honour during the occasion. Fr Victor Machado, parish priest will preside over the function.

Tickets will be available on Sunday, January 19 at school grounds throughout the day.
