Mangalore, May 10: Dhananjaya Moodbidri, senior journalist and Udayavani reporter in Moodbidri, recently received the Hoogar Memorial media award being given annually by the state journalists' Forum ('Patrakartara Vedike').

The award was presented last week at a function held in the Kannada Sahitya Parishat hall in Bangalore to commemorate the freedom of the press. Others to receive the awards wre M C Patil, Shivaji Ganeshan, Eachanur Kumar, Choodanath Iyer, Pratibha Nandakumar, Kranti Kumar and S E Modi.

Actor-turned-legislator 'Mukhya Mantri' Chandru, senior journalist C M Ramachandra, State Working Journalists' association president Venkatesh, state cartoonists' association secretary S V Padmanabha were chief guests.

Patrakartara Vedike president Mahesh Babu welcomed the gathering.
