Udupi: Youth arrested for uploading obscene photos of girl on Facebook

Daijiworld Media Network - Udupi

Updated

Udupi, Jan 10: A youngster has been arrested for allegedly uploading photos on Facebook showing him in a compromising position with a girl and also other obscene photos of the girl.

The youth, identified as Mohammed Yaseer (22), a student in a college here, was arrested based on a complaint filed by the girl in Manipal police station.

He was produced in court and sent to judicial custody till January 22.

Speaking to reporters, SP Dr Boralingaiah said that the girl and Yaseer were in an affair for the past 10 months, and about two months ago Yaseer clicked these photographs with the knowledge of the girl.

Meanwhile, the youth's girlfriend who stays in Dubai came to know about the affair, and to put the girl in trouble, she and Yaseer together plotted and uploaded the photos on Facebook and Whatsapp, the SP said.

Some reports also claimed that Yaseer had uploaded the photographs on Facebook after she refused to fall prey to his blackmail tactics, and that he had given her a drink laced with an intoxicant before performing the act. However, the police have not confirmed this information.

A case has been registered in Manipal police station.

Further investigations are on.

First of all committing this type of act is not correct. I will give bad impact in society about the students & her parents who always dream about her best career. Secondly why that girl allowed clicking photos during the course of love..?? Didnt she also part of this crime?. Anyways culprit should be funished.

The scoundrel broke the trust of his lover and should be punished. Its just like losing your lover and throwing acid on her. By throwing acid she gets physically scarred while in this case its mental scars.
Hopefully he gets to stay a few years behind bars so that the cops teach him how to earn trust and keep trusting. If he does not he can surely be a fit case of an aspiring criminal politician.

I do not understand what the parents of these type of girls teach them,it looks like they have"t taught their daughter lessons of morality since there is a mistake on the part of the girl also,it seems that she has vehemently posed for the video.therefore the law should take action against the girl also to avoid such incidents from happening in future.

A crime is a crime and the wrong doer should get the punishment for his crime. The questions of being of a minority community do not exist here. People comment about the girl too being involved. Giving her the benefit of the doubt, she might have been drugged or coerced into doing this. However, what is immoral is wrong and sin. Hope our elders will guide and educate our younger generation both boys and girls to refrain from sex before marriage as it may have adverse effect later on in their married life. Strict punishment to this person will prove as a deterrent to others who might think of doing such things.

There is this term called revenge porn. It is a global issue that is fallout of technology and SNS. The sad part of the story is it is difficult to completely erase from the internet once it is uploaded.
In a conservative male dominated society like ours, it can have devastating effects on the lives of Girls.
It is best if girls understand that the concept of dating, premarital romance, etc., is relatively new to our society and the acceptability levels vary from community to community. It is best if they do not allow taking pictures, however amount of trust they have on guys they mingle with. It can always return back to haunt.
Here although police have arrested this youth considering our laws and servers hosting those pictures are abroad, the latest statistics on conviction rates in India is just 8%. Therefore, until the laws governing these issues are in place, it is best if people thoroughly understand the advantages and limitations of the technology.

Most comments driven by impulse and does not make sense . Young couples had a good time , fb spoiled everything. Its usual to upload intimate photos on fb . Girl also enjoyed so she complained just because her photos went online ?. or she is afraid because her relationship status becomes public?. In other words she wanted to have fun in secret , in that case, both girl and boy to be blamed.

We are not living in Saudi. India is a Democratic country and we have appropriate laws to deal with this kind of menace no need for Shariah. It is important that our families should teach our kids good manners when they are young only then the instilled lessons take shape when they grow up. Religion has nothing to do with crime.

You mean all parents should stand outside college gate till their children comes out of the college?
See these gals/boys do not know what they are doing in the age, a proper family moral values must be taught them while growing in the their houses as well in the colleges instead of the useless big boring lesson, theory, mathematics which is no use in today's fast world.
The parents role and their teachers' role is very crucial in this age.
Uploading these type of videos in a public domain is offense and he must be punished and the girl too.so that tomorrow a innocent boy should not marry her.
