Kundapur, May 10: Union minister Oscar Fernandes during his visit to Byndoor near here last week has promised his support in upgrading the Byndoor railway station.

He met the Byndoor Railway Station Protest Committee president Jagannath Shetty and office bearers.  The president and members of the committee made an appeal with the minister to speed up the upgradation work so that all the trains passing on the way are given a stop at Byndoor.  They also explained to the minister about the efforts put in by the committee in this regard including a huge protest and rail roko organized on April 17.

Speaking to them Oscar Fernandes said that even he is aware about the problems faced by the people and he would support the cause.  However, he added that a delegation comprising members from the committee and public representatives should meet the concerned persons in New Delhi in speeding up the process.
