Bantwal, Jan 10: It may be common for cat and snake to fight, with the cat being the likely winner most of the time. Cats are generally not known to be afraid of snakes, and in fact snakes often become their prey too. Nevertheless, here's a sight that had jaw-dropping reaction from the locals simply because of its rarity.

A curious incident of a snake trying to swallow a cat was reported near micro station in BC Road here.

The incident occurred in the premises of Canteen Naga's house.

Usually a cat tries to hunt a snake and enjoys the fun.  However the incident of snake hunting a cat is rare.  Many people gathered to watch the sight.

The snake, however, could swallow the cat only up till its neck, and after much effort, finally gave up its ambitious dinner. Sadly, the cat had died by then.

The cat's size is small. It obviously might be a teen kitten. The snake there obviously is a common adult rat snake. They kill the same way as pythons and that cat apparently was the same of a medium-sized Bandicoot Rat. Hence it was easy for the snake. If it were an adult cat, that snake would be history.

So, do not mourn for the death of Cat. Still, it has eight lives.

Even though this news is about a snake trying to gobble a Cat, still the comments of some BJP supporters show that they are MORE afraid of AAP than being afraid of Cong.
This means now BJP considers AAP as their number one opponent just because AAP is cutting into their vote bank.

Leave aside saving that Cat from the mouth of Snake, our people even did not help those victims who were half burnt in a Gas-Tanker blast near Uppinangady last year. Onlookers did not even give water to those badly injured victims who were begging for water. Instead, those onlookers went on clicking the photos of Victims' agony in their Mobile phones.

That snake could not swallow even a small kitten. That snake should have taken training from our Politicians who have successfully swallowed whole iron ore mines and coal mines, big buildings like Adarsh Society, whole military choppers, besides eating raw all files connected to these great swallows.

A snake like a tiger needs a prey for survival. This is like a human being eating Pork / Chicken / Duck / Turkey / Mutton / Beef / Camel etc. Humans also cut / pluck and eat vegetables / plants / fruits.

In the picture, it looks like a kitten and not a cat.

What crazy argument is that Mr R.Bhandarkar. Snakes are not vegetarians. They eat killing other animals. If you don't like snakes eating other animals then you don't watch it or hear it.

Mr. Bhandarkar I agree, your thought, but to do that snake needs to be disturbed, even if someone tries to rescue this cat/kitten the snake will be hurt or even might be killed, cause once snake grabs its hunt will not give up easily. After all, this is one of the natural food chain. Let's not target anyone.

It is a small cat and Rat snake. Usually, rat snakes (Keri in tulu) hunt rats and other species similar to rats. Normally, kitten is in small size similar to rat. It would have been amazing if the snake hunted an adult cat!! There is a talk in village (Keri Akine in tulu) Snake hitting. Rat snake is not poisonous snake, but it will beat from its tail animals like cats, dogs. I heard from elders that it also beats cows and humans. However, rate snakes are larger in size compare to other snakes we get to see.

Its a perfect case of your Pappu Vs Modi. Finally in yesterdays survey he is not in the race at all and now its Modi Vs Kujliwal(congress's plac C). Now the congress wants to spend 500 crore for Pappus image make over which will never happen, just like how this Rat snake tried to swallow a feline.

Think the poor cat could be saved
    Instead of shooting it's predicament.
Brings to memory an award winning
photo which showed a vulture stalking a near famished about to collapse child in a famine stricken African country. The photographer one gathers lived and died with the guilt.

This Photo-hournalist named Kevin Carter from USA who had shot that photo of Vulture waiting for the child to die in South Sudan in March 1993, later on committed suicide out of guilt when people pointed out that he has miserably failed in his humanitarian duty of saving that child. Indians are not so sensitive.

Bhandarkar maam, that incident you highlighted was between a human and an animal(bird).....but here its between two animals of prey. We should not interfere in nature. Haven't you heard of the saying " circle of life" .....if the snake does not eat then it dies....then what.
