Kundapur, Jan 11: More than two years after the crime took place, police have now been able to get definite clues regarding the daylight murder of Kusuma (46), wife of Rama Mogaveera, employee of Karnataka Bank, Hanglur branch. However, the police have refused to divulge any details.

The family of Rama Mogaveera was staying on the first floor of two storey building. They had let the ground floor on rent.

The incident had occurred on October 21, 2011 at around 9 am, after Rama Mogaveera had left for the bank. When Kusuma's came to their house at 10 am, she found Kusuma critically injured.

The people in the neighborhood rushed to the spot on hearing Kusuma’s mother scream, and in an attempt to revive her, threw a pot of water on her. However Kusuma had died by then.

The police dog squad and fingerprint experts had looked for clues. There were stab injuries on her body and an empty glass and snacks were found in the hall. It was suspected that a known person has indulged in the act.

It was found that the jewellery worn by Kusuma was missing and it was observed that the wardrobe was ransacked for jewellery and cash. So it was assumed that she was murdered for cash and jewellery.

Ravikumar, chief police official had visited the place of murder but there was no progress in the investigation.

DySP C B Patil, recently transferred to Kundapur and circle inspector P M Diwaker began serious investigation into the case and have been on the lookout for clues to the murderer for the last three months. The fact that the weapon used for the murder has not been found yet has become an impediment to the investigation, sources said.
