Kundapur, May 11: A mobike rider was killed and pillion rider was injured seriously when a tempo collided with the bike they were travelling at Kamalashile curve near Siddhapur here on Wednesday May 10.

The deceased has been identified as Gunakar Shetty (32), a resident of Bellal near here.  He was on his way to the town riding the bike along with Ramkrishna Shetty when a tempo belonging to a yakshagana troupe rammed into their mobike. 

The tempo pulled them along the road for a long distance owing to which Gunakar Shetty sustained critical injuries in his head.  Ramkrishna Shetty who was riding the pillion too sustained serious injuries.  Both of them were admitted to a private hospital here.

However, the doctors asked Gunakar Shetty to be shifted to KMC Hospital at Manipal.  So he was rushed to KMC Hospital.  However, he succumbed to the injuries half the way.

Gunakar Shetty was returning from Ajri after distributing the wedding invitations of his sister who is due to marry soon.  Gunakar Shetty was a bachelor.

The Shankarnarayan police have filed a case in this regard.
