Bahrain, Jan 12: ‘Mogaveers Bahrain’ recently organized the ‘7-A Side Cricket Tournament’ at the Indian Club premises in Gudaibiya with 12 selected local cricket teams.
In the morning of the event, association president Nagesh Naik has officially inaugurated the tournament. The main sponsor of this cricket event was Abdul Sattar of SNT Properties, Bahrain.
During the tournament, the initial rounds were played in round-robin league format and the finals were in knockout format. Almost all the matches ended in a neck to neck battle. In the decisive final match, Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Bahrain encountered Sungulf Chak-De-India (CDI), Bahrain.
After electing to bat by CDI who won the toss, the CSK played splendidly and put on board a decent score for CDI to chase. While chasing the target set by the opponents CSK, at one stage CDI crumbled completely. But at a later stage they made a spectacular comeback and at the end recorded a stunning victory in the final ball of the innings with the help of a superbly escalated six by their batsman Prashanth and lifted the ‘Mogaveers Trophy’ in grace. Hence, CDI became the ‘Runners Up’ in this much entertained tournament.
Meanwhile, the architect of CSK’s breathtaking victory, Prashanth was adjudged as both ‘Man of the Match’ and ‘Man of the Series’ for his classic match-winning performance in the final match and also for the amazing record throughout the tournament. Similarly, Balaji (CDI) was honored with ‘Best Bowler’ award and Richard (Riffa CC) was awarded with ‘Best Batsman’ title for their awesome achievements in the respective fields. President Nagesh Naik and other Guests & Sponsors who were present at the time of Post-Match Presentation Ceremony have done the honors and given away the awards to all the winners.
Kiran Karkera, Puneeth Puthran, Chandra Mogaveera, Suresh Amin, Sunil Kumar and Munna put in their efforts to organize this event successfully.
Chief founder of the association Leeladhar Baikampady handled the inauguration ceremony and at the end Nishanth took charge of the presentation ceremony. Leeladhar Baikampady and Ashu Kateel served as the main commentators of this 7-A Side Cricket Tournament, which was witnessed by a large number of cricket fans throughout the day.
