Dubai: Cine star Anushka Shetty accorded warm welcome by fans

Dubai, Jan 13: A warm welcome was showered on Mangalore-born Tollywood star Anushka Shetty (Sweety Shetty) at Rakesh Malli's 'Spice & Flavours' Indian Restaurant in Sea View Hotel, Mina Road, here on Sunday January 12 at 8.30 pm.

Fans and well-wishers along with media were already at the venue by 7 pm, waiting to catch a glimpse of the star who arrived with her parents, Vittal Shetty and Prafulla Shetty. She and her parents were greeted with bouquets by Rakesh Malli. Soon there were photo sessions by fans who clicked one after the other with their cameras and mobile phones. Fans from Andhra, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka origin arrived to greet and take pictures with their star.

Anushka made her debut in the 2005 Telugu film Super and rose to fame in 'Vikramarkudu' (2006) which became her first commercial success. She made her debut in Tamil cinema with 'Rendu' (2006). She received high critical acclaim for her portrayal of the titular character in 'Arundhati' (2009), She played the role of Saroja in 'Vedam' (2010), which fetched her two Filmfare awards, one Nandi and two CineMAA Awards. In the 2010s, she also achieved success in Tamil cinema, with the action-masala flick Singam (2010), and its sequel Singam II (2013) which were big commercial successes, while her performances in Vaanam (2011) and Deiva Thirumagal (2011) won her critical praise.

Her films include Mahanandi, Vikramarkudu, Astram, Rendu, Stalin. Lakshyam Don, Okka Magaadu, Swagatam, Baladur, Souryam, Arundhati, Billa, Vettaikkaran, Vedam, Vaanam, Panchakshari, Khaleja, Nagavalli, Kedi, Thakita Thakita, Singam, Deiva Thirumagal, Thaandavam, Dhamarukam, Alex Pandian, Mirchi, Singam II, Irandam Ulagam Rani Rudrama Devi, and a trilingual Baahubali, which is reported to be the costliest Telugu film.
