Mangalore: Gurpur chaos - District Congress gives evasive answers to media

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangalore (DV)

Mangalore, Jan 13: A day after the Congress protest at Gurpur that saw party workers fight among themselves, the district Congress said that the protest was organized with the aim of restoring communal harmony in the district.

Addressing a press meet here on Monday January 13, interim district Congress president Ibrahim Kodijal said, "The protest was organized to restore communal harmony in the district. But during the protest a few Congress party workers demanded arrest of Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat for his inflammatory speech against Muslims," he said.

Though the press meet was called to announce Congress programmes in various across the district ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, Kodijal began with speaking on the protest.

"Why did Prabhkar Bhat remain silent when Cyanide Mohan raped and murdered 20 girls, and when former ministers Halappa and Renukacharaya were booked in rape charges? The district Congress severely condemns the inflammatory speech against Muslims and Christians," he added.

However, when media persons asked him a barrage of questions on the protest, he gave evasive answers. The media persons asked questions like why the protest was organized and against whom, was it against their own government for failing to arrest Kalladka Bhat, and why no Congress leader had filed complaint against K P Bhat.

Visibly baffled by the questions, Kodijal said, "After the incident (Hindu convention at Gurpur) we met the police commissioner, and even spoke to the chief minister and the home minster to take action against Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat. The home minister assured that he would take suitable action in the matter."

The answer did not satisfy the reporters who pressed him further by asking if failure to arrest Dr K P Bhat was a failure of the Congress government. Rubbishing the charge, Kodijal said, "There are loopholes in our system. Law is different from administration. The government is maintaining the law and order. The court has ordered police to file FIR against the person who filed complaint against Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat. The government is acting according to the law. Moreover, I have not seen or heard the speech made by K P Bhat."

Public programmes

Kodijal said that Dakshina Kannada district Congress committee will hold public programmes in various places to educate the people

about the various development works and pro-people programmes undertaken by the union and state governments.

The programmes are scheduled as follows:

January 20 - Puttur (10:30 am), Mangalore (3 pm)
January 21 - Moodbidri (10:30 am) and Bantwal (3 pm)
January 22 - Sullia (3 pm)
Janaury 26 -  Mangalore South (10:30 am)
January 27 -  Beltangady (10:30 am)

Dear Mr. Kodijal who want to educate the people and so he scheduled some meetings. Is it necessary to educate the people of twin cities. For your kind information they are well educated and having the general common sense and hence no need of educating them. Rather, it is you people who should learn the common sense.

I dont know why Poojary always runs for elections and why the Congress always gives him the ticket. He has become a laughing stock and the Congress party suffers due to him.
Its time that Congress and JDS come together and fight the elections. Otherwise, there is no hope of winning.

    Dear Kodijal,
You asked Why did Prabhkar Bhat remain silent when Cyanide Mohan raped and murdered 20 girls, and when former ministers Halappa and Renukacharaya were booked in rape charges?
As all knows Bhatt only against for minority, if he or his chelas do anything in society this will not affect him.

When Home Minister who I believe is from your own party has assured of action then why was this protest? To fool people? Or maybe you don't trust Home ministers words

There are 2 types of jobs available in the market. One is blue colour another is white colour. Now may readers of this web site know English. But English is not a criterion to establish the intelligence and maturity. Only blue colour job people more comments.

It is not Blue or White 'Colour' jobs, but correct English is Blue & While " Collar" jobs.
But as far as India is concerned - the "Collar-less" jobs are also available in India. The dirty & corrupt politician's jobs can be termed as Collarless job. Without doing any productive work they earn millions and their COLLAR never gets stained even a bit for years together.

In 19th & early 20th Century in Europe & US it was compulsory for Factory workers to wear only Blue Uniform and Office workers were wearing only White dress. So, Factory & Site work requiring physical labour is called Blue Collared job. Work done sitting coolly inside Office without much sweat is called White Collared Job. Politicians neither do physical labour nor Mental labour. So, they neither require Hands, nor Head nor Brain. So, Ravi you are correct - they are Collarless, shameless, heartless & headless. No Head no shoulder no collar.

If all are corrupt, why you went to Bahrain for job. You could have worked for the people individually as a non corrupt person. You also want hefty salary means money. If the politicians do not make money, how they run their house. Whether they have to go to somebody's house for food?.

First of all Janardhan Poojary must have had some control over what he was talking. The protest was hosted in regards to the communally sensitive speeches made by Kalladka Bhat. Not to discuss Aadhar card. Now, because of Janardhan Poojary the congress became a laughing stock. I guess its time the Congress took strong action against communal factions that hurt the public sentiments. Mangalore and Udupi used to be a peace loving district. However, now we have lost face due to moral policing and other communal reasons, like the hate speech Bhat gives every now and then. Congress has to show some guts in taking action against such people, because in the first place, the congress got the peoples mandate because of moral policing and other communal instigation. If the Congress fails to act, then it is already on the road to losing the 2014 elections, it will end up losing Karnataka as well.

This political party is no more good to the society, they must coach local leaders first, check corruptions, maintain discipline law and order inside the party first, Congress is one step forward and three steps back in maintaining law and order in Mangalore… Looks like there is no major change in Mangalore with this Congress leadership. We are ruled by lame ducks.
