Mangalore, Jan 14: Eid Milad or Milad-Un-Nabi was marked with much devotion and fervour by the Muslim community in city here on Tuesday January 14.

Eid Milad marks the birth anniversary of Prophet Mohammed and falls in the third month of the Islamic calendar. The celebrations are often low-key, and the day is observed by holding solemn religious meets, processions and social activities. Many of the households choose not to celebrate the day.

On Tuesday, Muslims in the vicinities of Bunder and Kudroli took out processions carrying colourful flags and banners of their respective organizations. Women and children dressed in traditional attires too were part of the processions.

A highlight of the processions was the presence of the duff bands that added to the festivity.

Religious discourses on life and teachings of Prophet Mohammed are conducted in mosques and by community organizations.

Hundreds of people took part in the processions.

Yes, it starts with one and spreads, this feeling. The good takes a just little longer, but then it spreads if you make a start. On this auspicious and sacred day of Eid Milad and Makara Sakranthi may God give us all the strength and the knowledge to know that the other is same and feels the same way as I do.May God, as you said Shetre make our region it once was 'heaven on earth'.
    God bless all of us.
