Kundapur, Jan 14: In a tragic incident, a constable of Anti-Naxal Force (ANF) in Amasebail here allegedly shot himself to death late night on Monday January 13.

The deceased has been identified as Albert D'Souza (38), son of Adam D'Souza from Puttur. He was unmarried.

He was in ANF for the past eight year and was posted in ANF camp at Amasebail for the last three years, sources said.

At around 11.30 pm on Monday, he reportedly shot himself with a self-loading rifle. By 3 am, the body was brought to Wenlock hospital in Mangalore.

He was known to be a hardworking and good natured man. On the night of the incident, he seemed normal, and had even called home to speak to his family, sources said.

He had joined duty on January 12 after vacation. He was to get engaged on January 24 to a girl from Madikeri who is working as a nurse in Bangalore, sources said.

Though exact reason for taking the extreme step is not yet known, sources said that there was some misunderstanding with his fiancée-to-be with whom he had reportedly spoken over the phone on Monday night.

Amasebail police have registered a case. The post-mortem was done in Wenlock hospital.

May be if in every parish there is a marriage Councillor even for engaged couples or couples in love and wish to get married it would help. People will only come to such Councillor's only if their privacy is maintained.

May be he had some family problems which led to his suicide. Any problem in this world can be solved through dialogues and counselling and no one should take this extreme step of suicide in life. Feeling sad for the family/

So sad, it is difficult to understand, under what situation the person was going through!
At times, on our own, we are unable to handle our crisis, and we see this type of tragic end. People need moral support!
Strong or weak, at times, mortal human becomes stronger as well as a week.
Even a person like Adolf Hitler committed suicide.
It doesn't mean one should give up life. We should live till natural death!
May the soul rest in peace and near and dear ones get the strength to bear the loss.

Speaks about your mindset in the society that you take pleasure in passing political comment over a citizen's death. Shame

    Sunil,

I liked the direct by very humble way of your correcting a particular commentator.

Perhaps it would have been more robust if you had taken the commentator's name or posted it by clicking 'reply' under the very comment.

    Cheers !

My thoughts are with the diceased's fiancee-to-be. You are already precious by choosing a noble profession of nursing. Do not lose heart sweetie, God may have surely made someone to be at your side which you will find soon. With determination, you will find the courage to move-on.

I join with your prayers for God's blessings so that Albert's soul finds heavenly abode.

    Condolences to Albert's family too.

He is the loser after all, nobody has a right to take his/her life when so many other lives are connected to you. Ending the best gift of God on this petty issue is beyond sympathy. I feel sorry for parents, May God give them strength. RIP

Very sad incident, no doubt, but the Constable sure comes out as weak kneed if a petty phone call/tiff drove him to take this extreme step....

    Bhandarkar Mamu,
I hope you understand the emotional situation at times varies from person to person . A depression could make a hard person to break and take extreme steps. A proper counseling or some supporting shoulder is the need of the hour at such times.

RIP Albert, It was not the right decision
