Udupi: Group assaults three youths for confronting eve-teasers

Udupi, Jan 14: A group allegedly assaulted three youths on the evening of Monday January 13 for confronting eve-teasers.

The incident occured at Mattapady, Brahmavar. Two youths identified as Gautam and Varad Shetty were returning after participating in a protest against the incident wherein a youth was arrested for uploading obscene photos of a girl on Facebook. On the way, they saw a girl walking near Mattapady railway bridge and allegedly tried to lure her and indulged in eve-teasing.

The girl raised an alarm, and hearing her scream her brother Shafiq who was in a nearby shop rushed to the spot along with his friends Asif and Shoaib. A heated exhange of words ensued, after which Varad and Gautam left the place and the girl returned home with her brother. Police sources said that Varad and Gautam were also assaulted by Shafiq and his friends.

The incident did not end there. Later at around 7 pm, eight people came in Innova and Scorpio cars belonging to Satyaraj and Prajwal Shetty, and reportedly assaulted Shafiq, Asif and Shoaib near Shafiq's house.

The three youths were admitted to Ajjarkad hospital.

The girl later lodged a complaint of eve-teasing and assault in Brahmavar police station.

    Nowadays all over India people give communal colors to each and every incident, even some filthy media! In future, it will drag it to such extent it will become a full fledged civil war. All citizens respective of religion and political affiliations should shun their image and work for impartial society. And Muslim priests should teach importance of God fear among youth, instead of engaging youth in processions .

    Looks fishy just like that kidnap incident of married Muslim lady which later revealed to be a drama. Most likely, both groups quarreled and now to settle score they are using eve teasing as the reason.

    Eve teasing by boys, must be tapori guys. Good somebody teaches them a lesson. Guys think that might is right, but when the laati in the kyte, will make you tight.     PROTESTS/PROTESTS/PROTESTS… MINIMUM 2 PROTESTS IN A WEEK IN UNDIVIDED DK DIST. Does the common man get any benefits of these protests I think rather than achieving something, we lose more as thousands of people get stranded due to traffic jam. Vandalisation of public property takes place and above all there is a revenue loss. These protests are providing opportunity for hooligans to have a field day.

    Voices can be raised regarding an issue by other means too rather than crippling the life of the common man, which further burns his pocket as he/she is away from his office/college/school etc. Protests are not the solution for the problems, rather it is just a political tool to get votes and take common man for a ride.

    I don't understand why we people always give it a political picture. Either BD, ABVP, PFI, BJP or Congress, we hold responsible. Are we still fools enough that we still don't have the capacity to think and act. We don't want tensions in our place as i believe all the political parties and cos are the same with the same agenda, so it would be better we are being citizens of India, condemn such acts and ask for strict punishment to those involved in such acts, irrespective of any community.     'Allegedly tried to lure her and indulged in eve-teasing'...The other day it was allegedly something and reportedly raped.
    Now the Moral of the episode is:
    1. Girl and boy irrespective of their religion must exercise restraint.
    2.A Girl should know what she is doing before allowing herself to be 'clicked'.
    3.A Boy should not act like a pig before and also later should not try to prove himself to be one by bathing once again in muddied waters.
    4. Protestors should know that girls irrespective of any religion they belong almost have the same feelings.There may be exceptions but very few. They in any CASE, STAND OUT.
    5.Boys if they feel that are insulting girls only by uploading filthy pictures are wrong. Your worth is too calculated on account of the incident.
    6.All students girls in particular listen to your parents. Not once, twice, but many times.Even if you are not convinced ,follow what they say. In this is your well being.
