Mangalore: Moral policing - Girl, boy assaulted at beach

Mangalore, Jan 16 (DHNS): Members of a Hindu organisation allegedly assaulted a boy and a girl belonging to different communities, when they were walking on a beach near Surathkal on Wednesday.

It is said that the female student of an engineering college was taking a stroll with a boy from another community, when the members of the organisation took them to task and assaulted them, before informing the police. The police, who should have arrested those who had assaulted the boy and girl, took the boy and the girl to the police station, sources said. It is said that the girl is the niece of a former ZP member (from BJP).

The local police said that it was true that Hindu organisations had stopped the couple and interrogated them. However, the couple were not assaulted, they said.

“We rushed to the spot and gave protection to them. In spite of asking the boy and the girl to file a complaint, they have not done so, fearing consequences from family members.”

City Police Commissioner R Hithendra said, “the local police have said that the boy and girl were not assaulted. I have directed senior police officers to look into the case. No one has the right to interrogate a boy and girl. I have directed the Surathkal police to act against the leaders of Hindu organisations for harassing the couple.”

Every individual got the right live as per his /her wish and choice. If they behave indecent way, then outsider can stop such action. Otherwise, only the girls and the boys' parents/close relatives can show their objection. If they do not have a problem, why moral policing group should be bothered. Dear all first see what is happening in your home, then think about people around you..... Please do not interfere with others life. Tks

I don't feel any wrong in the action by these organizations. Because of these recent activities by some stupid Muslim gays any human being will act the same. be it any community members. Everyone have feeling. But yeah, I request this type of organizations or anyone, instead of beating them, take them to the police station or to the parents of these kids and warn them. By that way we all humans can maintain a good relationship as well as feel secured to walk around safely. And one more request guys. Please don't finger the whole community when one or few found the culprits of that community. Because the culprits nowhere belong to any communities. They should be treated as "Shainthaan" and punish them rather than punishing the whole community.

These Moral policing is becoming really a disease in Mangalore. They only look out for young People to raise Problem. We have to ask ourself are we in a communist Country?do we have not the necessary freedom, even to go to beach with Boy or Girl from other community?when someone wants to indulge in forbidden Thing they will do it so or so.Police also are not doing right Thing.Instead of Moral policing People take into a task, they are taking Girl and Boy with.what have they done?such Action will give Moral Police more backing to do more.when one goes to beach doesn't mean they are doing wrong.what Moral is our Police playing.

Get the meaning of MORAL from these people who are trying to harass people who get into criminal activity under the cover of this word. Most of the people who do such policing seem to be uneducated and/or unemployed, who tend to have ample time to roam the streets - disrupting others lives. Our Mangalore has a good legal police force that can be counted on rather than this illegally sprouted group that gatecrashes into any public and personal venues. I feel that this group needs to be curbed at all cost.

Where are we? And in which century? How can people beat young girls in the name of moral policing? Living in a liberal or in a Taliban world? When the Taliban was doing such kind of moral policing in Pakistan and Afghanistan, we the people in India had raised our voice and named those incidents as barbaric, violation of human rights, hooliganism then, what happens today in the form of Mangalore attack? Not that people did not protest such kind of hooliganism, but looks like the level of protest is confined to media only! Is media the only rescuer? And what is the City Police Commissioner R Hithendra doing about all this such kind of incidents?

The Chief Minister of Karnataka had made a statement that their government will take strong measures against such kind of incidents. So now what? Mangalore already has a bad name, I will tell my friends especially my female friends not to visit Mangalore for any reason. Let the young boys and girls enjoy and live as per their interest. Don’t force them, rather help them to choose their way of life.
