: The Academic Council of Mangalore University has approved the amended draft regulations on "Earth Science and Resource Management," the proposed post graduate course at a meeting held here on Friday May 12. The two-year MSc course will replace the two-year MSc course in Marine Geology. The meeting was presided over by vice-chancellor K M Kaveriappa.

The syllabi of the proposed credit-based semester system for undergraduate programmes in the faculties of arts, science and commerce were also approved at the meeting. According to the amendments made to the draft regulation governing these programmes, General and Communicative English will be provided as a language subject for all undergraduate courses, from first semester to the fourth semester.

A foundation course will also be introduced, under which a new element 'gender equality' will be added, together with Indian Constitution, Human Rights and Environment.
