Mangalore, Jan 17: A fight erupted between two groups from Kotepura and Ullala Kodi in connection with an Eid Milad procession, resulting in an attack on a person with a machete and stone-pelting at two vehicles over the last three days.

Ullal Kodi resident Abdul Latif, brother of municipal council member Ashraf Bava Kodi was allegedly attacked with a machete.  He is undergoing treatment at a Thokkottu private hospital. The person who assaulted him is said to be identified as Ullal Kotepura resident Mannan.

It is said that three mosques at Kodi had refrained from organizing Eid Milad processions to Ullal Dargah on Tuesday January 14.  A rowdy had reportedy threatened the people in the vicinity over this, and a fight erupted between the two groups of Kodi and Kotepura.

On Wednesday January 15, a water tanker in Ullal Kodi had hurt a youth and the Kotepura group had retaliated by breaking the glass of the tanker. Stones were thrown at the police team who had come to enquire about it.  A case in this regard was registered at the police station.

On Thursday January 16, when Abdul Latif and two others from Kodi were standing by a local club, a group comprising Mannan from Kotepura and four others allegedly damaged the windshield of a lorry transporting fish.  When Abdul Latif questioned it, Mannan came forward to attack him with a machete.  When Latif raised his hand to prevent being hit, he was injured by the machete blow.

When the locals came running towards them after the incident, Mannan fled with his accomplices.  It is said that Mannan is an accused in the murder of a watchman of a fish oil mill.

Complaints by both the groups have been lodged in the local police station.

    Dear Ivan,
God didn't create any religion, he created the whole universe and man in his own image.
To deal with declining world God sent Prophets, Angels and his own Children to communicate with us.
All the messengers of God's life and messages are simple and harmonious.
They never spoke against each other.
But men followed prophets who came from time to time fine!
But they also started judging each other against the will of God and those messengers of God!

Reminds me of a quote in the ill famous Gurpur speech of Dr. KPB wherein all ill in and around Mangalore was blamed at Ullal constituency headed by Mr. Khadher.
I personally felt Khadher is sincere and hard working and is rightly the state Health Minister. He is travelling a lot and taking good measures in his ministerial capacity. However, in the short term he might want to focus a bit in his own constituency.

The need of the hour is to stay calm & focussed on your job responsibilities & how to earn your livelihood rather than blame others & get carried away at speeches & invoking unnecessary memories. As responsible citizens, we need to overcome petty caste wars & religious fundamentalism

Highly charged atmosphere of hyper religious sensitivity.
    Like leak of compressed gas,
A small spark can lead to a devastating fire.
Insensitive, selfish and irresponsible leaders created this environment.
Ignorant people are pawns, acting foolishly on their advice and ruining their lives on earth as well as thereafter.
