Udupi, Jan 17: Bishop of Udupi Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo has conveyed his best wishes to Paryaya celebrations and to Sri Vidyavallabhatheertha Swamiji of Kaniyoor Math who will be ascending the Paryaya Peetha on Saturday January 18.

"The chief of each of the eight Maths in Udupi takes turns once in every two years to conduct rituals at and run Udupi Sri Krishna Math. On behalf of the diocese of Udupi and the entire Christian community, I congratulate and wish good luck to Sri Vidyavallabhatheertha Swamiji of Kaniyoor Math who will be taking over the responsibility this time," Bishop Dr Gerald said in a press release.

"Udupi has become popular the world over as the land of Maths. Devotees from all over the world visit Udupi and Sri Krishna Math in particular for worship. Unhindered service to God and peace have ruled Udupi due to the Ashta Mathas installed by Sri Madhwacharya. The ascetic life they lead and the projects and works undertaken by the leaders of the Maths for social welfare are appreciated by all," the release added.

"May God bless the head of Sri Kaniyoor Math while taking over the responsibility as Paryaya swamji. I pray that God guides him every step of the way and makes him a strong instrument of welfare of the world.  May the prayers and best wishes of the Christian breathren in the Udupi diocese be with you," the bishop said.

Best wishes to the Paryaya Utsav to our Hindu brethren. Udupi is famous historically as well as devotionally and educational. A good gesture and initiative from the Bishop. Of course We have to respect and wish each other as India is a great nation practicing many religions, but our goal is to one creator God Almighty. Dev-Eswar- Allah-Yaweh call HIM by many names. This is good being a good Christian at the same time respecting other faiths. I observed in Twin districts that there is devotion to God by All the faiths. All the best .

In his wisdom and feeling of brotherhood, the bishop has sent the message of good wishes to the Paryaya Swami. During his own installation, he had received so many messages of this kind from hindu and muslim community. One hindu leader had gone to the extent of saying that henceforth, Udipi will have two Paryayas, acknowledging the important status of a bishop.

We pray to God that this love, peace, respect and affection of people of all communities will flourish and multiply.
