Daijiworld News Network - Mangalore (MB) - Pic Shantala, Subrahmanya

Mangalore / Subrahmanya, May 13 (Saturday, 7-30 pm): The Kannada silver screen couple Vishnuvardhan and Bharati paid a visit to Subrahmanya's Kukke Shri Subrahmanya Temple and offered special prayers.

They also called on Shri Shri Vidyaprasanna Shri Pada Swamiji of Shri Narasimha Samputa Math and received blessings from him.

Since they were on a brief visit, it remained without much publicity, although it had been made known by the media.

Bharati, a few years senior to Vishnuvardhan in filmland, jumped into the tinsel town glamour while she was in college and started her career as the leading lady in the Kannada movie 'Miss Lilavati'. Vishnu, as her husband is popularly known, hit the screen with a bang in Puttanna Kanagal's memorable movie, 'Nagarahavu', heralding a new era of angry young men. 'Nagarahavu'  had a remake in Hindi called 'Zahreela Insan', directed by Puttanna Kanagal, with Rishi Kapoor in the lead. It was not a commercial success. Kanagal never ventured into Hindi movies again.

Many year later, Vishnu and Bharati got married. It is to Bharati's credit to have stayed away from gossip, affairs and controversies either before or after marriage. She played a cameo role in 'Uttar Dakkhin' in Hindi.
