Karkala, May 15: The Portrait Society of America has conferred the International Grand Award on artiste Vasudev Kamath recently. The award was given to his portrait of his wife.
Art pieces from all over the world were invited through advertising in Australia's www.internationalartist.com magazine for the award given by Portrait Society of America on the occasion of its eighth anniversary Celebrations.
The portrait by Vasudev Kamath was one among the 1,000 entries in the competition.
The portrait won the US $ 5,000 Grand Award. In addition to that painting materials worth US $ 2,000 were awarded to him.
The society president Gardan Vyatshore gave away the award to Kamath who is the first Indian to bag the award.
