Mangalore, May 15: Our Lady, the Queen of the Universe Parish, Ranipura will celebrate its golden jubilee year on Thursday May 18 at the Ranipura Church Ground.

The event will be graced by Bishop of Mangalore Fr Aloysius Paul D’Souza. The Bishops will be welcomed at the church gate to begin the celebration.  The solemn mass will be offered at 9.30 am where in the main celebrant will be Fr Aloysius Paul D’Souza.

The guests of honour will be Bishop of Beltangady Fr Lawrence Mukkuzhy and Vicar Forane, Mangalore South Deanery Fr Andrew D’Souza.

 

Union minister Oscar Fernandes, MP and state BJP president D V Sadananda Gowda, Ullal MLA U T Fareed, MLC Blasius M D’Souza, Munnur Village Panchayat president Ida Lobo and former Ullal MLA K Jayaram Shetty will be the chief guests.

A brief parish history and a jubilee year report will be presented at the stage programme. The former parish priests and the vice-presidents of the Parish Pastoral Council will be felicitated by the Bishop of Beltangady.

Fr Andrew D’Souza will unveil the newly-designed parish emblem after which the newly-constructed parish website will be launched by Jayaram Shetty.

On the occasion, Blasius D’Souza will release the Golden Jubilee Memorial Souvenir. The Golden Jubilee Memorial Education fund will also be inaugurated at the programme by Bishop of Beltangady.

Sadananda Gowda and Ida Lobo will hand over the assistance to the handicapped.

The Bishop of Mangalore will be felicitated by Fr Valerian M Menezes, the parish priest in recognition of 10 years of completion as the Bishop.

A tableau on Mary, the Queen will be organised at the end of the ceremony. A cultural programme will also be showcased at 6.30 pm by different wards of the parish.
