Court Remands Arrested to Judicial Custody

Beltangady:  A local court has remanded four arrested in connection with an attempt to robbery to 15 days of judicial custody.

Prakash, Somshekhar alias Choma, Ganesh and Chandrashekhar from Laila have been remanded to judicial custody.

The arrested, who believed that a treasure was buried under an ancient house owned by Nadaguthu Dhananjaya of Nada village, had tried to break into the house and commit robbery.

They ascertained that only women stayed at the house on the day and ventured into the task. But the residents raised an alarm when the front door was broke open with the help of iron bars. Beltangady police on a tip-off, rushed to the spot arrested the four. 
 
Liquor Shop Employee Ends Life

Kadaba: Muddappa (65) from Shiraharti, Turnkur, committed suicide at Kombar village on Saturday. He had joined to work at a liquor shop in Bedraje, Kombar, two days ago. He committed suicide on Saturday by hanging himself to a tree near the shop. Family problems are suspected have made him to end his life.

On a complaint filed by the liquor shop owner Ashok Rai, Kadaba police have registered a case. The body of the deceased has been kept at the Wenlock hospital mortuary at Mangalore.

Three Vehicles Damaged in Serial Accident

Suratkal: In a serial accident involving two omni vehicles and an ambassador car on Saturday near NITK hostel, all the three vehicles were damaged and two persons were injured. Injured were admitted to a hospital. The accident is said to have occurred when the vehicles tried to overtake one another.
