Moodbidri, May 15: The valedictory of Sanjivini-2006, the three-day national symposium on ayurveda conducted by Alva's Ayurveda College was held here on Saturday May 13. The seminar was held under the aegis of Karnataka department of Horticulture and Alva's Education Foundation.

The function was presided over by Dr Jayaprakash Narayan, member, Indian System of Medicine Council, Bangalore. Dr H S Ballal, vice-chancellor, MAHE, in his valedictory address said that 80 per cent of people all over the world opt for alternative medicine. Medicinal plants have a market share of around Rs 67,000 crore, but India, in spite of being a nature-rich country has a share of only about 4,200 crore, he said.

Dr Ramakrishnappa, deputy director, Karnataka department of Horticulture, was the chief guest. The winners of various events held as part of the seminar were announced on the occasion.
