New Delhi, May 16: Shayan Munshi, one of the key witnesses in the Jessica Lall murder case has claimed he had no knowledge of a look out notice against him.
This despite the fact that the lookout notice issued against him three months ago made headlines. And both Bina Ramani and designer Rohit Bal were stopped from leaving India.
All such facts that have apparently escaped Shayan's attention. The facts of what he can and can't do were clarified during his session with the police. The actor's wife was with him.
Foreign travel was also ruled out on Monday for Malini Ramani. The High court rejected a request from her to travel to London for an exhibition. It was at Malini's party that the model was shot dead seven years ago.
Manu Sharma, the man acquitted of her murder, also made a court appearance. But the spotlight was on one of Manu's friends.
Still on trial
Vikas Gill was among the nine men accused of killing Jessica. On Monday, the court was informed that Vikas managed to leave India two years ago when he was still on trial, a fact that has left the Delhi police shame-faced.
He gave his statement in court in October 2004 and then prosecution counsel says he left the country but he was marked present on the day of the verdict.
Since then, Gill has skipped every hearing, claiming medical problems. The police have now requested the court to declare him a proclaimed offender, which paves the way for the police to attach his property.
Not wanting to repeat the mistakes of the trial court the HC ensured the presence of all the accused in court on Monday and ordered them to come for the next hearing on May 31.
They also pulled up the police for not taking adequate steps to stop Vikas. The intention of the court is clear. This time they want no roadblocks in the deliverance of justice.
