Udupi: Assault over land dispute - Girl admitted to hospital

Daijiworld Media Network - Udupi

Udupi, Jan 22: The teenage girl who was allegedly assaulted by a group of 30-40 persons on Sunday January 19 and who was initially sent back by the doctor without proper treatment, has been admitted to Ajjarkad hospital. The girl's father who came to her rescue too was allegedly assaulted.

The girl is said to have developed severe back pain and bleeding after which she was rushed to Ajjarkad hospital, sources said.

The family said that when the girl was taken to a hospital in Shirva along with her father soon after the incident, she was not given proper treatment and was sent back by the doctor. "But the other party who assaulted her were admitted to a hospital by the same doctor," the family alleged, claiming that the Shirva doctor had been 'influenced' by powerful people or the police.

Members of Udupi IFKCA visited the girl at the hospital. Speaking to reporters, Udupi IFKCA president Prashant Jatanna said, "When patients come to hospital for treatment, it is duty of the doctor to diagnose them without getting influenced by any higher authority."

He also added that Vinay Kumar Sorake had helped the family in the matter even though initially he was busy. "Vinay Kumar Sorake might have been busy in a meeting at the time of the incident and hence was unable to receive the family's call for help. But later he personally spoke to the police and instructed them to file an FIR against the accused. It was just a misunderstanding," he said.

The 17-year-old girl and her father were allegedly beaten up and verbally abused by a big group of around 30-40 persons, some of whom were identified as Dheeraj Shetty, Suresh, Sushant, Subya, Vishwanath and Vanaja. A land dispute between the parties resulted in the incident. A counter complaint was also filed by Shyamala Acharya who alleged that the family had opposed the construction of a compound wall on Sunday and used foul language.

No arrests have been made yet.

Dear friend it may be in your native, but here bajarang dal is totally dominating in coastal belt. if this is done to a hindu family it would have be big issue. but they are minorities and have no money do give to the police and no political support because they belong to a simple working family.

How the 30 persons beat 2 persons. If they were beaten by them the y would have dead. Whenever there is lego medical case police should first refer the victim to medical check up. If one hospital refuses they can go to another. This is become political issue. Whenever there is friction between 2 religious community, it should not be see as communal angle. There are good people in every group. even I have friends in my native place from bajrang dal and hindu sene. Some of their ideas are acceptable to me.

The case is simple that 30 people attacked the family shows that our group is strong and no one can question us. No one will agitate against us because they are all our people, i.e. Bajrang dal/ BJP /Ramsena etc. Some of the readers are commenting only on Party basis, i.e. If congress s Amul Baby as their leader than they got a problem but when other parties s only on the relationship than they don’t have any problem. Raj thakery is not fit to run Siva Sena but he is the boss only because he is son of Bal Thakery? Same like this Stalin of DMK, Rabri devi, Kumara swamy, Chandra babu Naidu, any many more. Please support or comment on party basis, please comment on the person.

So my dear friends, please understand that mere electing a congress candidate cannot get justice. Not sure if this falls under the jurisdiction of P Madhwaraj or Sorake but this is appalling.

Can any elected public servant in the region ask the police why did they done like that ? Is there any law to prosecute the misdeeds of police and doctors ? Whatever may be the land dispute can mob attack weaker section ? Is police required minister's approval to accept the complaint. Sitting next to the girl in the bus made whole town bandh and protest, but the same girl beaten by the mob do we have police to at least register the case and arrest all who involved.

State Health minister UT Kader should visit shirva govt. Hospital and sack the doctor & nurse immediately. I was experienced before 2 months at night 11pm went to govt.hospital to take a doctor prescribed injection for my wife suffering from severe stomach pain, at that time a old aged nurse refused utterly to give the injection. For this incident hospital night watchman named Jaya was the eye witness.

17 yr old girl and her father has been brutally attacked by a group of 30 to 40 like monsters.

Land dispute can be settled by sitting across the table. If not, Land Tribunal court will decide. Violence and beating 17yr old girl is totally unacceptable in the civil soceity. Goondas should be treated under Goonda act.

If it is between two neighboring families, then fine. But a strength of 40 people in the act is a disturbing issue. When highly educated people (calling themselves)will understand that these days ghati people are much more better than you ignorant, fools and idiots who fought for silly issues making them communal and fight like animals. Shame on you uncultured people..
What is the use of education when you can see dirty minds are overridden in the locality. Is the education meant for jobs only and making all this nonsense? Then it is better to be uneducated. SHAME

Why these people gone to remove photographs..???
For what purpose she told someone belonged to BJP..
Do you mean for all small things to involve minority card...
Don't think it will work on long runs..!!
30-40 people are not fool..as people think..!!
First of all dont try to spoil name of other community members as done always...!!!

Also, if the family can settle this ( I know it is hard ) in keeping the brethren principles of Jesus , it would be a wonderful news to the Christian community .

I salute daijiworld for taking up this issue boldly. If same thing had happend to any other community girl, there would have been big chaos around Udupi...look at the 'mouth piece' daily Kannada news papers of Coastal Karnataka...this incident is not even reported despite of FIR, police-politician involvement...but same news paper has carried other incident happened in Shirva with lots of masala, accused photo and half page report!! Do we need such media for us? Guys wake-up...we need atleast one Arvind Kejriwal in this region... I urge Christian community to peacfully protest, and show your strength, otherwise you will have to face more torture from these anti-social elements. Beating a minor girl is biggest shame. Shirva police better to wear bangle..
