Dubai, Jan 22: In a tragic incident, Babitha Karkera, a 32-year-old mother of two little kids died on the spot near Um-al-Nar on Dubai - Abu Dhabi road.
Babitha, hailing from Mulky was married to Rohit Karkera from Udyavar, Udupi. She leaves behind her two little sons aged five and three-and-a-half years, her husband, family members and many well-wishers.
She was the daughter of Ramesh Karkera and Sumati, residents of Kolachi Kambla, Mulky. She had married Rohit seven years ago and the couple had settled in Dubai. Babitha's brother stays in the US.
The accident that took place on Tuesday January 21 morning involved a five-vehicle pile-up on the highway near Al Raha Beach in Abu Dhabi. Babitha who was driving the car and was alone, died, while an Emirati woman and an African woman sustained moderate injuries.
The two women who were injured were shifted to Sheikh Khalifa General Hospital and Mafraq Hospital, while the body of the deceased was moved to the Preventive Medicine Clinic at Sheikh Khalifa Medical City.
The body is expected to be brought to Mulky for the final rites.
