Bishop Dr Henry inaugurates St Mary's CBSE school at Kinnigoli

Mangalore, Jan 23: "In today's competitive world our students should be educated in English to be recognised globally. In our institutions students are getting value added education in respect of caste and creed. Students should take the benifit of the facilities available in our institutions and become better students and better civilians of the country," said Dr Aloysius Paul D'souza, Bishop of Mangalore.

He was speaking after blessing the premises of the St Mary's Central School, a CBSE syllabus school, under the management of Catholic Board of Education at Kinnigoli here. The school was inaugurated on Wednesday January 22.

He congratulated Fr Alfred Pinto, parish priest of Kinnigoli Church and correspondent of the school, for successfully completing this mega project.

Dr Henry D'souza, bishop of Bellary inaugurated the school building. C Lokesh, BEO of Mangalore North Block, inaugurated the school office and the principal's chamber.

Sri Laxminarayana Asranna of Kateel Temple inagurated library room. Fr Wilson L Vitus D'Souza, secretary of Catholic Board of Education, Mangalore inaugurated the computer lab. Sr M Lillis, assistant superior general, Bethany Sisters, inaugurated the digital audio visual room. Dr Aloysius Paul D'Souza, Bishop of Mangalore inaugurated the mini hall. Abdul Latief Sakafi of Jumma Masjid Kinnigoli, Baby S Kotian, member, taluk panchayat, Mangalore, Janardhan Kellenjoor, president, Mennabettu grama panchayat, Shyamala P Hegde, president, Kinnigoli gram panchayath, Dharmadarshi Harikrishna Punaroor, former president of Kannada Sahitya Parishad, Bhuvanabhirama Udupa, editor, Yugapurusha, Kinnigoli, Jossy Pinto, president, Congress zonal committee, Kinnigoli, and Praveen Cutinho, president, assistant teachers' association, Mangalore were the guests of honour. Vincent Vinod D'Souza, vice-president of parish pastoral council, Robert Lobo, secretary of parish pastoral council, Rudolf Fernandes, president of parent-teacher association and Prakash Shetty, secretary of PTA of the school were present on the dais.

While congratulating the Kinnigolians on their efforts to start a central syllabus school over here, Nalin Kumar Kateel said, "Educational institutions bring revolutionary changes in society. Kinnigoli being a small town is role model in this regard. What we get from society is not important but what we have given to society and specially to our children will be counted," he added.

Sri Laxminarayana Asranna of Kateel temple in his message said that nowadays parents want their children to become doctors or engineers, but first they should make them good human beings. "The institutions run by the religious leaders aim to giving value added education to the children. It is time now for all religious leaders and politicians of various parties to come together on a single platform and think about improving the education system and our children's moral conduct," he said.

Dr Henry D'Souza, bishop of Bellary in his inaugural address said that the main aim of education is not to pour so many things into children's mind but help them to open their minds. "Students should be taught about all the religions, all the cultures and traditions, which would encourage our children to respect each other which in turn would make them achievers. We should educate children to build the society, not to break it."

Fr Alfred Pinto, parish priest and Fr Vinod Lobo, assistant parish priest of Kinnigoli Church were felicitated on the occasion. Donors who contributed generously for the school building were honoured. School committee members who served the school for its betterment were felicitated. Architect, contractor and others were also honoured.

Fr Alfred Pinto, parish priest and correspondent of the school welcomed the guests and the gathering. Sr Isabella Pinto, principal presented the progress report of the school. Fr Vinod Lobo proposed vote of thanks. Henry Mathias and Lynette D'Souza compered the programme. Cultural programme was presented by the school students after the stage programme.

    Congratulations to CBE and Mangalore Diocese for upgrading st Marys to CBSE Syllabus . Otherwise also standard of education at St Marys was at par with any other premium schools.
    Where are our famous Lobo master , Winnie teacher ,Costa , Subramanya , Selly, Monica ,Mable, Gregory teachers ? We are proud of you and our school .

    As time is changing, requirements and dimensions are also changing.
    The CBSE board pattern is preferred now and likely in the future also, over STATE BOARDS, as JOB opportunities and LOCATIONS are going to scatter all over.
    Switching children's school becomes easy in CBSE board.
    The leader is the one, who can anticipate the change and swiftly adapt to the change.
