Mangalore, May 16: 'Kammane,' an anthology by Mohammed Baddur and 'Oru Pennare Kinavu,' a novel by Hamza Malar have been nominated for the Beary Literary Award conferred by the Central Beary Literary Association.

Mohammed Baddur is a noted writer whose works in Kannada, Tulu, Urdu and Beary languages have been well-received by readers. 'Sidilu', a Kannada anthology by him was published recently.

Winner of Muslim Literary Award and Lankesh Award, Hamza Malar has published more than 25 works in Kannada, Tulu and Beary languages. His 'Tallana' is a compilation of short stories in Kannada translated from various languages.

The awards will be presented on Friday May 19 at the Beary Sahityotsava to be held in the city, informed chief convener of Central Beary Literary Association Umar U H.
