Mumbai: Encounter specialist Daya Nayak transferred to Nagpur

Mumbai, Jan 24 (TNN): Sub-inspector and "encounter specialist" Daya Nayak, who was reinstated in the force in June 2012, has been transferred to Nagpur based on pending inquiries against him.

"We have transferred him to Nagpur and an order has been issued in the matter," said a senior IPS officer on the conditions of anonymity.

Allegations of graft disproportionate income were levelled against Nayak and he was others who allegedly helped his two friends who lent their names to the transfer of his wealth were also arrested by the anti-corruption bureau of Maharashtra. However in 2009, the then director-general of police SS Virk had denied permission to prosecute Nayak in the case with a remark that there were insufficient grounds and cleared him of all charges.

Nayak, a sub-inspector of the 1995 batch, rose to fame in a short span by killing around 80 criminals.

The 1995-batch policeman had been suspended for six years and later reinstated. Nayak was working with the high profile Western Zone of the Mumbai police and was based in Bandra.

Nayak has to his credit the elimination of around 80 gangsters of the Mumbai Underworld, such as Vinod Matkar, Rafik Dabba, Sadik Kalia and three Lashkar-e-Taiba operatives, as a member of the encounter specialist squad.

    People are happy if the seasoned criminals killed in the encounter. Those justify him, please tell me which statute and law and rule permit police officer to kill these criminals. If there is no permission to take the life of criminals from the competent court and police does they are in wrong side. Police dept. is doing the work of state, if they are allowed to take the life, then there will be cases in the court.

    There is another encounter specialist by name Ajay Kumar Bhandary in Jameshedpur. He was SP in Bihar/Jarkhand Police earlier and killed more than 200 criminals. Later on due to political pressure he had to resign. But he fought as an Independent candidate for Loksabha from Jameshedpur and won. By coincidence he is also a Mangalorean (not related to Prakash Bhandary of Mumbai Police who is also encounter specialist).
    Similarly Daya Nayak can also resign and contest from Mumbai and surely Mumbaikars will make him victorious.

    Daya is a paid encounter hero. Most of the encounters happened under congress ruled Maharastra and yet terrorists attacked Mumbai.
    IPS officer D G Vanzara was jailed by CBI for killing prove LeT Ishrat jahan and team ,just because it happened under BJP ruled Gujarat.

    Great Guy, though wealth accumulated is a mystery. But in a country like India he not only accumulated wealth, but also worked towards society's welfare.     Great, he is still alive after 80 encounters. he should be transferred to Jammu and Kashmir, where in a single encounter along with terrorists almost same number of Army Jawans die. and also during Mumbai attack i think he was under suspension, otherwise there was no need of NSG.

    Daya Nayak is a Great Warrior. His name will go down in the history of Indian Police as A accurate sharp shooter. He has eliminated most dangerous criminals from our society. The allegations against Daya nayak is absurd and baseless. The politicians amass wealth in crores and crores as well continue their pride shamelessly in the corrupt government.     Honest Officers are never welcome in a corrupt world, so Daya Nayak is paying the price for being Honest. I am sure he will do well in Nagpur.     He should join AAP, then can become the boss of encounter specialist. He can train so many specialists in all states, especially where militants are hiding. Should be given all body proof facilities which are available in the modern world. They should be provided special helicopters with pilots if required.
