Bangalore: Protesting Aiyar's tea vendor remark, BJP gives tea for free

Bangalore, Jan 24 (PTI):
Mocking Congress MP Mani Shankar Aiyar's tea vendor taunt at BJP's Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, the party today distributed tea to public free of cost to register their protest against the controversial remark.

"We have distributed about one thousand cups oftea for free, protesting against Mani Shankar Aiyar's statement; ...general public are expressing their strong criticism against Aiyar's words," BJP state media coordinator S Prakash told PTI.

"His words have also hurt the sentiments of tea vendors who are leading respectable life with the help of their business," he said.

During the recently held AICC meeting in Delhi, Aiyar had mocked Modi's Prime Ministerial ambitions and said a place will be identified for the Gujarat Chief Minister to distribute tea there.

"I promise you in 21st century Narendra Modi will never become the Prime Minister of the country... but if he wants to distribute tea here, we will find a place for him," Aiyar had said at the venue of the AICC meeting.

Several office bearers of Bangalore city unit of BJP distributed tea to the general public in the presence of former Deputy Chief Minister R Ashok near Anand Rao circle Gandhi statue here.

Modi, who was once a tea vendor, has hit at out at the 'chai wala' barbs at him by Congress leaders accusing them of "feudal mindset."

Can you please elaborate how Priests and Nuns were reason behind Church attack ? We all know all Hindus are not reason for Church attack and most Hindus were hurt and were saddened by church attack. Lot of Hindus visit churches with devotion, may be with stronger devotion than Christians, removing footwear before entering church. The church attacks were purely evil designs of BJP. If Congress was behind Church attacks why innocent Christian youths were arrested and slapped with irrelevant charges against them ? You are specifying to vote for BJP if we need development. No one will prefer development at the cost of innocent blood shed. The party which says 'we are Indians and India for all' is the true patriotic party. You are free to express your views and vote for any leader of your choice. Similarly I express my views - Neither Congress, nor BJP but non-corrupt, non-communal AAP is the hope of India. If AAP come to power, the true face of both BJP and Congress will be exposed. Jai ho AAP.

These peoples are contesting for next Loksabha election obviously each and every party wants to campaign their good works and their pre-election manifesto to the general public of India to gain the public votes. But my question is these people are campaigning the tea (tea making and serving) only? Is it tea (making & serving) comes under their manifesto? We have lot of burning issues in our country. Is it these people will make tea and serve the tea in the Parliament and for general public instead of thousand burning issues!!!!!

    Mr. Rego,
About the church attact what you think is not correct. The reason behind that not only Hindu's... Even our Priests and Nuns... and one more important thing is "All Hindu's are not reason for Church attack". If congress was not involved in Church attack why they take any action on the Church attackers of 2008??? The Holy Bible is never goes wrong. Jesus words as per bible 'You have to suffer for my name and because u r my followers' had come true and if any govt. comes also the other words of bible also will come true soon. The Church attacks in the time of BJP govt focused more bcuz of dirty politics of Congrace leaders. You tell me 'when there was congrace govt there were so many attacks on Christians why that are not Highlighted?'In Mangalore itself there were many attacks on the holy places before 2007. Whether the National Channels are working for Congrace????? Even So called congrace leader from Mangalore christian community not opened their mouth at that time? Think either side before commenting. If you need Indian development vote for BJP. If you want politicians development Vote for Congrace. If you want to watch New dramas for free of Cost Vote for AAP. If you want to see the next election in 2014 December again Vote for third front. I support Modi as a next PM of India. If he was selling tea means no problem with me. No need of political back ground to lead a nation. The leadership will not come from blood... Its a skill... and Mr. Namo has that.

Dont you feel ashamed for telling these words. To become a great person it is difficult.

Before speaking abt other person you should think how u r.

Modi was tea maker, nw he is the PM only beacuse of his truthfulness, care, ambitious, helpful and supports.

    Not to criticize:
Illiterates or semi literates, ones genuine source of daily bread earnings.
    And ones political preference, etc.!
But we need not be PESSIMISTS ABOUT CHURCH ATTACKS!
Times are changing. Such attacks are unlikely in future!
Or may be reduced to a great extent!
    Nevertheless, we should be cautious!

Mani Shankar Aiyar has only known that Narendra Modi was a tea vendor. But he doesn’t know the fact that Sonia Gandhi was a waitress a Greek restaurant

    This is called 'ive amnesia'.
However, from a neutral point of view, we have a lot to learn from this! Still we say we do not believe in destiny! An Italian once working in a restaurant becoming the most powerful lady in India!
A tea-seller once being projected as it's PM candidate by BJP...
Never give up...You do not know
what is in store should be the take away from these stories instead of belittling the 'personalities' concerned.
God is always great...can't you all dears see?

A person of Mani Shanker Aiyar caliber should not have passed such a cheap remark. We need to respect the opponents, even if we do not agree with their policies.

How come so much leniency with Modi and only criticizing Aiyer. Does anyone know how many cheap comments/personal attacks Modi has made in his speeches ?

Remember Modi's words "Action and Reaction ................"

    "What goes around comes around."

"If you throw muck on people then someone will throw muck on you too !"

Dear Declan, Mumbai, I have not criticised Aiyar. I have given my comments on his remark. If someone passes cheap remarks, should Aiyar also pass cheap remarks? If everybody passes cheap remarks, how would we distingush one from the other?

    Dear Fredy,
P.M. aspirant Mr. Modi, shouldn't have spoken so badly about other leaders.
Never in the history of India, any P.M's used such language.
Aiyer shouldn't have spoken like that, agreed!
Our language, reveals our inner self.

Mr. Langoo, just for the heck of rhyming your comments, you have committed a couple of king sized blunders. 1) Who gave you the right to use a derogatory term like swine to address Mr. Aiyar ? 2) Prohibition prevails in Gujrat, no question of selling wine. Don’t you get enough wine in the US of A, still looking for free Indian wine? Too bad for a US citizen
