Bahrain: Young talents win hearts at Konkani Kutam annual competitions

Bahrain, Jan 27: The annual competitions of Konkani Kutam, Bahrain were held on Friday January 24 at Pappilon Restaurant Hall.  In its endeavour to promote Konkani language among children in Bahrain, Konkani Kutam has been organizing the competitions for the last 13 years.

The competitions, open to all Konkani speaking children, started at 11.30 am with participation of 50 enthusiastic children, with as many as 39 children in the age group of 4 to 18 years.

The competition comprised three categories, 4 to 8 years, 8 to 12 years and 12 to 18 years.

 

The winners in each of the competitions were as follows:

Konkani singing contest

Age group 4 to 8 years 

I  prize - Eschelle Sequeira
II  prize – Susan Sequeira
III prize  - Riyona Alva


Age group 8 to 12 years

I  prize - Orville Sequeira
II  prize – Stafany Fernandes
III prize  - Chrishelle Dsouza
 

Age group 12 to 18 years
 
I  prize - Melissa Martis
II  prize – Shreyal Vaz
III prize  - Jovita D’Silva
 

Konkani dance contest

Age group 4 to 8 years

I  prize - Eschelle Sequeira
II  prize – Susan  Sequeira


Age group 8 to 12 years
 
I  prize – Rowyn Fernandes
II  prize – Joel  DSouza
III prize  - Ayona Gloria Rodrigues


Age group 12 to 18 years

I  prize – Eunice D'Souza
II  prize – Jovita D'Silva
III prize  - Joanna D'Souza


Consolation prizes were given to all participants.

The judges for singing competition were Lancy Moras, Swibert Mascarenhas and Soniya Prabhu.

Judges for the dance competition were Priya Maschrenhas, Samantha Diaz and Eligius Fernandes.

Lunch was served by Pappilon Restaurant to everyone present.

Well-known compere John D'Souza conducted the proceedings. Ronald Fernandes delivered the vote of thanks.

    Konkani Kutam Annual Competition is a good event and really great to know that this event has been conducted since 13 years.
