Udupi, Jan 29: Congress leader and former union minister Janaradhan Poojary on Tuesday Januarya 28 said the state government should not interfere with the administrationof Maths and religious institutions.

Addressing a press meet at district Congress office here, Poojary said Maths are doing the work expected of a government by providing education and doing various charitable works, and it is wrong on the part of the government to suspect them of indulging in malpractice.

He said that if any Math or religious institution indulges in wrongdoing or corruption, there are laws to deal with it. "Maths and religious institutions are not above the law," he added.

Condemning religious endowment minister Prakash Hukkeri's statement that the government was planning to amend the Religious Endowment Act to bring Maths under its control, he said it would be wrong move that would hurt the sentiments of Math heads as well as the devotees.

He added that even if the High Court has directed the government to look into the affairs of Maths, the government should approach the Supreme Court against the directive.

He pointed out that Maths like Siddhaganga Math in Tumkur and Adichunchanagiri Math are providing education to children and also free food and clothing and Maths are also doing the work of teaching and upholding the culture of the land. "Thousands of students are getting educated because of the Maths, and in fact, the education provided in their institutions is even better than that in government schools," he added.

Expressing confidence that chief minister Siddaramaiah would take steps that is the interest of Maths and religious institutions, he said, "Siddaramaiah is an honest person who takes decisions that are beneficial to people. I am sure he will not take any step that would harm the Maths. In the past too, he has withdrawn certain proposals after taking into consideration the opinions of the people, and I am confident he will do it in this case too."

"The CM should direct the muzrai minister not to take any such step," he added.

Commenting on the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, Poojary lauded AICC vice-president Rahul Gandhi's move to adopt decentralisation process in choosing candidates. "It is an excellent measure. This way, the voice of Congress workers at the grassroots is not only heard but respected too," he said, adding that he was ready to even fight for the success of Rahul Gandhi's move.

On his own chances of getting the ticket from Mangalore, he said that MLAs and party workers are in his support and they had even met the chief minister to urge his nomination. Health minister U T Khadar has submitted a letter to KPCC in his support and other MLAs of others districts too had giving the same in writing, Poojary said.

Harikrishna Bantwal, Harish Kini, M A Gafoor, Sanjeeva Moily and Narasimha Murthy were present.

In the name of God-most of the black money-Jewellery -Gold is being kept in safe vaults-safe deposits in temples/mutts/holy places for safe custody as there is immunity.
but if this money is invested back in mainstream of the economy then the same money can benefit the nation -the people -the community as
a whole -why cant we be generous
    and think further?
Why should the money be blocked for whose benefit?
Let the nation progress and improve?
Take the money out -keep it in banks -float collateral and improve the nation -with Infrastructures- college s- professional colleges -hospitals and industries...
Every paisa should be accounted -dont block the money.
2/There is a parallel economy floating -with fake currency-clamp it down- catch the culprits and hang them first in public.
    3/Change all currencies.
4/All drug lords -pimps- hawala -smugglers should all be caught and hanged like in china.
5/Registration of land records -stamping- drawings should all be computerized.
6/revenue -tax-customs inspectors should all be under vigilance as they manipulate at the source point and misguide and make money.Being in uniforms....
Look at this aspect very seriously..
this is happening day in and day out..
IF THE HEAD IS GOOD THEN THE TAIL WILL ALSO BE GOOD.
AAP has done a good beginning AND THEY ARE NOT Gods , unless the janatha will co-operate for the benefit of janatha only hen it will work.
Kejriwal can manage his life with or without AAP.
So wake up india - catch the culprits red handed and punish them on the spot...
india has more than 1.2 billion population..

Siddu they say was a good Finance Minister then, but I am sure he cannot be a good CM. He can't control his Ministers who day in and Day out blurt out controversies. First Shaadi Bagya, Then Muda Nambike, Now Control over Math. What is happening is these people are Governing us or our Religion and beliefs?? Congress got a lease of fresh life in Karnataka, and I think they want to throw away the chance given by the people. Attack the Corrupt and give clean transference Governance then only Congress can survive.

Mr.Shravan Shetty,Manipal, here we must appreciate Poojary for taking up the very important issue concerning the society.Siddaramaiah may have his own agenda for doing nonsense things in views of his "ahinda" background. If he intrudes in math matters, definitely it will draw flaks from public.Few Hindu maths like Siddaganga Math Tumkur,Sri Krishna Math,Udupi,Adichunchanagiri,Mandya ,Sri Ramakrishna Math,Mysore are doing extremely good work in the field of education, health,Food for the poor, etc.,Lakhs of boys/girls have benefited from these organisations and serving the people across the globe.I am if govt takes up the control of these maths the whole system would effect in its functioning. We have already temples which have high rates of income under Muzarai dept but their management is very poor.So it is better for the govt to accomplish other important tasks rather than doing controversial jogs.Let us appreciate and support good deeds keepingg aside politics.

May it be Math, Church or Mosque - the institutions are religion based and are attached to people's sentiments.

The Government is a neutral body, who should not meddle into the affairs of these institutions as long as the tax related matters are properly dealt with.

If the government will take control of them, income of these too will go politician's pocket and political parties will decide who should head which unit.

Do appreciate the service the institutions are doing to the society. The law should be transparent irrespective of religion.
