Mangalore, Jan 30: After a lull of 10 years, the BJP on Wednesday January 29 managed to regain control over Mulky town panchayat with a huge win, bagging 11 out of the 17 seats.

The elections to the 17 wards in the town panchayat were held on January 27 and the counting took place on January 29 under the supervision of assistant commissioner Dr Prashant and special tahsildar.

From top left: Ward 1 - Purushotham Rao (BJP), ward 2 - Veena Shetty (BJP), ward 3 - Vasanthi Bhandary (BJP), ward 4 -  Umesh (BJP), ward 5 - Jabeena Ismail (Cong), ward 6 - Harsharaj Shetty (BJP), ward 7 - Sunil Alva (BJP), ward 8 - Radhika Kotian (BJP), ward 9 - Hasanabba (Cong), ward 10 - Meenakshi (BJP), ward 11 - Shailesh (BJP),  ward 12 - Vimala Poojary (Cong), ward 13 - Shankravva (BJP), ward 14 - Kalavathi alias Kallavva (Cong), ward 15 - Asif (Cong), ward 16 - Hasan Basheer (Cong) and ward 17 - Kusumavathi (BJP).

Among the 17 wards, BJP wrested power in 11 while Congress won 6 seats. In the previous elections Congress had bagged 9 while BJP had won 7 seats and JD(S) the remaining one. This time, JD(S) did not win any ward.

The winners in each ward are: Ward 1 - Purushotham Rao (BJP - 226 votes); ward 2 - Veena Shetty (BJP - 178); ward 3 - Vasanthi Bhandary (BJP - 312); ward 4 -  Umesh (BJP - 383); ward 5 - Jabeena Ismail (Cong - 200); ward 6 - Harsharaj Shetty (BJP - 278); ward 7 - Sunil Alva (BJP - 359); ward 8 - Radhika Kotian (BJP - 394); ward 9 - Hasanabba (Cong - 309); ward 10 - Meenakshi (BJP - 277); ward 11 - Shailesh (BJP - 88);  ward 12 - Vimala Poojary (Cong - 319); ward 13 - Shankravva (BJP - 251); ward 14 - Kalavathi alias Kallavva (Cong - 335); ward 15 - B M Asif (Cong - 162); ward 16 - Hasan Basheer Kulai (Cong - 241); and ward 17 - Kusumavathi (BJP - 449).

By winning 11 of the 17 seats, the BJP won 47.46 percent of the votes, while Congress had to be content with 39.3 percent. Though JD(S) did not win any seat, it earned 7.76 percent of the votes.

BJP block president Sucharita Shetty thanked the voters of Mulky for bringing BJP to power. "The people of Mulky have conveyed a clear message that the nation needs BJP. We will give good administration in Mulky," he said.

MP Nalin Kumar Kateel said that minister for youth services and sports Abhayachandra Jain's attitude was to be blamed for Congress party's defeat. He said it was a lesson for the Congress.

Abhaychandra Jain reason for BJP’s victory in Mulky - Jayaram Shetty

Mangalore, Jan 30: Even as BJP registered a huge victory in Mulky town panchayat elections, BJP leader and former MLA Jayaram Shetty Ullal called a press meet in Mangalore and said that Congress minister Abhaychandra Jain was indirectly responsible for BJP's victory.

"BJP has taken over the Mulky town panchayat by emerging victorious in the panchayat elections that were held in the town. BJP will always adhere to the promises made to the people of Mulky and we heartily congratulate and thank the people for choosing us," he said.

"People are fed up of the Congress rule, hence they decided that BJP must come to power," he added.

"People in Mulky are  furious with minister Abhaychandra Jain, who had attempted to assault an auto rickshaw driver. This indeed is a important reason for the Congress losing and the BJP winning. This election result has indicated the trend that may be expected in the coming MP elections. The people’s choice is clear," he said.

Yes, he indeed commented that some Congress people are involved in this butchering of Sikhs. Indirectly, he indicted Mr. Sajjan Kumar, Mr. Jagdish Tytler, Mr. HKL Bhagat etc. When Vice President of 100 plus Congress Party is accepting this then you can think of the enormity of case. Some readers got exited I do not understand what that much happiness in a small panchayath. What fame elected members achieve?. In our Advocate's Bar Association I have been called majority of the Advocates contest for the president on many occasions. I refused, I told them it is not my cup of tea. Please do not compare this to coming general election to this election. How many readers and the elected people know there is a parliament in Delhi, state assembly in every state?.

This is the fate/feet of BJP.
YOU SHOULD HAVE GONE THROUGH AT LEAST SOME OF THE FACTS.
    See the following:
Congress bagged 39.3 percentages of votes and JDS 7.76 percentages. JDS votes are congress votes. 39.3 7.76=47.06 percentages. BJP won only 0.43 percentages.
It is not clearly known how much percentage of votes were cast in this Mulki Panchayath election.
In the LokSabha elections, Congress will bag both the twin districts seats. NEEEERAAAAALVAAAAGI MATTHU DHAAAARAAALVAAAGI.

The more these people keep Chanting 2002 riots Manthra, the more publicity they are giving for Namo. Muslims in Gujarat opt for Namo, & in the recent Assembly elections, BJP won 6 of 8 Muslim dominated areas. With every step of Amul Baby, he simply gives new publicity for Namo. Eg.: during a recent TV interview, he spoke of some Congress men might have been involved in Sikh Massacre, & now some Opposition parties are seeking a probe into this.

..Abdhaya chandra jain winning elections just because of Amaranath shetty..evethough he clearly knows he will not win, he will contest & spoil the chance of BJP..this is going on since many years..JDS already lost chance becoming a third force due to power hungry/back stab politics of HDD..this time existing 2 MP seats also they may going to lose..

So we can see the trend and mood of people of Coastal Region now. Just few months back they were fed up with BJP only due to their infighting, but now they realized that BJP is far far better than anybody else. Few may not agree, but who cares and why we should care if these people don’t accept the wrong doing of Congiss
