Mangalore: Vicky Shetty aide Radhakrishna produced in court

Mangalore, Jan 30: Radhakrishna Shetty alias Radha, said to be an aide of underworld element Vicky Shetty, was produced in court on Thursday January 30 evening, a day after he was arrested by the Mangalore city crime branch (CCB).
The police sought custody of Radhakrishna, but as it was late, the court sent him to judicial custody. He will be produced in court again on Friday January 31.
On Wednesday January 29, the CCB police received reliable information that Radhakrishna and his accomplice Akashbhavan Sharan, who is also said to be an aide of Vicky Shetty were hatching a plan near Kutpady railway cross. When the police arrived at the spot, Sharan managed to escape, while Radhakrishna was arrested.
On thorough interrogation, Radhakrishna revealed that he and and his accomplice were plotting to kill Mahesh Kodikal and Chandu alias Chandrahas who are accused in the murder case of Bejai Raja. He also said that four bullets and a magazine of a pistol had been kept ready to carry out the murder. The pistol and bullets were later recovered from Radhakrishna's house in Kasargod.
Radhakrishna, who is also accused in the murder of Pachchu alias Prashant at Valencia last year, had been absconding so far.
Akashbhavan Sharan who escaped from the spot is an accused in several murder cases. Radhakrishna had given him refuge at his house, said the police.
The operation was carried out under the direction of police commissioner R Hitendra. ACP (law and order) K V Jagadish guided the police team which comprised Mangalore south ACP Pawan Nejjoor, CCB inspector Valentine D'Souza, PSI Shyamsunder and constables Shashidhar Shetty, Ganesh M P, Ganesh Kalladka, Venugopal, Chandrashekar, Dinesh Bekal and driver Tejukumar.

Mangalore, Jan 30: Radhakrishna, a resident of Arikkadi, Kumble was arrested by Mangalore city crime branch police on Wednesday January 29 for his alleged involvement in extortion, shootout and two murder cases.
It is said that Radhakrishna is an aide of Vicky Shetty, an underworld element hiding in Dubai, allegedly the mastermind behind the murder of Prashant (Pachchu) in Jeppu last year. He was also reportedly involved in Ballalbagh Vijayendra shootout case.
According to police sources, Radhakrishna was supplying information about top Mangalore businessmen, including real estate businessmen, to Vicky Shetty in Dubai.
It may be mentioned here that Mangalore real estate businessmen had been continuously receiving extortion and threat calls from underworld elements including Ravi Poojary, Bannanje Raja, Vicky Shetty and others. Mangalore police have been blamed for not initiating any action in the matter.
Radhakrishna was also wanted in Bejai Raja murder case, and for the murder of a Dubai-based businessman in Mangalore four years ago. He was arrested in Kumble, Kerala.
