Mangalore, May 19: It’s second innings for H N Satyanarayana Rao who has been appointed as the Inspector General of Police Western Range.
Rao who was the additional commissioner of police (administration), Bangalore, within a span of one year has been reappointed as the IGP.
Following the retirement of K S Suresh Babu, additional Director-General of Police (Western Range) on April 30, the State Government had appointed Raghavendra Auradkar, Inspector General of Police (Intelligence-Security) but revoked its order.
Finally after a period of 18 days, Rao was appointed as IGP. Rao had succeeded Dharmapal Negi as IGP and was in office for more than one year. It was during his tenure as the IGP two of the most violent encounters with naxals took place at Menasinahadya and another at Barkana.
Rao will take charge on Friday, May 19.
