Puttur, May 20: Chickungunya fever which has caused much panic in the northern districts of the state has now made its maiden entry to the taluk also.  The doctors have confirmed that a boy has been suffering with chickungunya.

Manjunath, a resident of Urlandy had recently gone to Davangere along with his father.  Chickungunya has already been widely reported in the Davangere and adjacent districts.

On his return from Davangere Manjunath complained about body pain, headache, fever and pain in the joints.  He was then admitted to a private hospital here.  The doctors diagnosed him to be affected from Chickungunya.

This is the first Chickungunya case reported in the taluk.
