Gallacher defends title at Dubai Desert Classics 2014


Dubai, Feb 3 (IANS): Scot Stephen James Gallacher recovered welll from a poor start to retain his Omega Dubai Desert Classics golf tournament here.

With a final score of 16 under at the end of the three-day tournament, the 39-year old Scotsman who started weakly and finished strongly to claim $408,000 worth in prize money, reports Xinhua.

Emiliano Grillo from Argentina finished second one shot of the lead.

Northern Ireland's title hopeful Rory McIlroy, who had a strong start last Friday, suffered from a couple of mistakes on the rainy final day and ended ninth.

World No.1 Tiger Woods carded a final round of 71 to finish in a tie for 41st on six under.
