Mangalore: Murder accused hacked to death in broad daylight at Suratkal

Mangalore, Feb 4: In what seems to be a result of gang rivalry, a man accused in a murder case was hacked to death in broad daylight at Suratkal here on Tuesday February 4.
The deceased, identified as Prakash, was an accused in the murder of Shivaraj who was found dead at Jokatte in July 2012.
It is said that Prakash, who was arrested a week after Shivaraj's murder, used to come to Panambur police station to sign the register ever since he was granted bail in the case.
On Tuesday, he had come from Udupi to Panambur police station with his father to sign the register.
Sources said that when Prakash and his father were travelling back to Udupi by bus, a group of unidentified men came in a Maruti Omni and waylaid the bus in front of NIT-K Suratkal. They group barged into the bus, dragged Prakash out and hacked him to death with deadly weapons.
They then fled the spot before anyone could stop them.
The body was shifted to Wenlock.
Shivaraj, who was a mechanic at a car showroom at Kuntikan, was found dead near the railway track at Kodikere, Thokur under Jokatte panchayat limits on July 20, 2012. It was suspected that Shivaraj was used as a bait by his murderers to catch hold of the culprits who murdered Kabir, who in turn was an accused in Polali Ananthu and Sukhanand Shetty murder cases.
